Stages of Labor - How to Recognize Them
Childbirth is divided into three different stages of labor.
The first stage of labor occurs when uterine contractions work to fully dilate a woman’s cervix, enable the baby to exit through the uterus and pass into the birth canal.
After this takes place, the second stage of labor is the actual birth and delivery of a baby.
Lastly, the third stage of labor occurs with the delivery of the placenta.
