Exercise & Fitness During Pregnancy

During your nine months of pregnancy, it is important for mom and baby to exercise safely. Whatever your fitness level, make sure you take extra care when you exercise. Working out during pregnancy can carry certain risks, so consult your primary care physician before you begin your pregnancy fitness program.
Some women who are pregnant have, or develop, medical conditions that warrant caution in relation to pregnancy exercise. Some of these include uterine contractions, absence of fetal movement, respiratory disorders, anemia, spotting and a few others.
If you experience any of these symptoms while exercising during your pregnancy, consult with your primary care physician. In some cases, you will still be able to exercise and maintain your pregnancy fitness plan, however other cases may require you to refrain from exercising during your pregnancy.
Once you have approval for your pregnancy fitness program from your doctor, keep them updated on as you progress through your pregnancy. A safe exercise program during your pregnancy is the main goal - try not to push yourself while pregnant.
Always err on the side on the caution when exercising during your pregnancy. Remember, pregnancy is a time to maintain your fitness, rather than improve it. Best of luck to you and be safe with your pregnancy fitness program!
